our own place.

The Rehabilitation Society of Calgary is a member-owned, member-operated charity of and for people with disabilities.

Our Own Place is both the program and the concept: persons with disabilities work together to create a place for building social relationships, trying new things, learning new skills, and managing the program and the facility.

What we do.

For over 65 years our mission has been to create an inclusive community where people with different challenges and abilities participate with equality in a social and work setting.  We offer activities, programs and volunteer roles in an environment that emphasizes personal, adult choices and individualized support.  We operate Monday to Friday daytimes, with occasional evening and weekend functions.

Who we serve.

We provide service to adults (over 18 years of age) who self-identify with a disability, challenge or barrier to accessing mainstream life.  We are completely accessible to mobility devices.  We welcome people accompanied by personal support workers, and many individuals who are living independently or with family.

Calendar

Most activities and programs are run on a ‘drop in basis’ (see activities and programs for specifics).  Special events vary from month to month, as well as activity changes based on member interest.
